Rare Books


The collection of rare books consists of bibliophile Romanian and foreign prints.
The latter category includes the fund of incunabula and post-incunabula, as well as numerous prints from the 16th and 17th centuries. Special in illustrations are Chronicle of Nürenberg by Hartman Schedel printed in 1493, illustrated by Albrecht Dürer and the post-incunabula of early 16th century, as Livre d’Heures Hore or the Bible printed at Leipzig in 1541, with engravings by Lucas Cranach the Elder.
Many Books bear ex-libris, marks of ownership or notes of personalities of the Romanian and universal culture: Prince Constantin Brancovan, Constantin Cantacuzino, Dimitrie Cantemir, Alexandru Odobescu, George Cosbuc, Leibnitz, Pierre Loti, Antoine de Rivarol, Francois Coppée.
