Mihai Eminescu’s manuscripts, 46 volumes, circa 14,000 leaves, have been given to the Romanian Academy by Titu Maiorescu, in the meeting of January 25th 1902.

“Based upon the very close knowledge of his reliqued manuscripts”, but also on other materials of “the inexhaustible repositories of the Library”, “integral and critical”, the Perpessicius edition, initiated in 1939 by the Romanian Academy and accomplished in 1999 (with the volume XVII - Bibliography), constitutes the Eminescian corpus re-livened in detail the laboratory of creation of the poet, highlighting the multiple and complex sides of his work and life (poetry, prose, drama, journalism, documents, letters), representing, as N. Iorga asserted, “a national monument”, built on the principle that “any line of Eminescu is worth being printed”.

Following this desiderate, the achievement of the text-image data base containing M. Eminescu’s manuscripts, intends to disseminate cultural information by multimedia access and podcast to the treasure manuscripts. The project is expected to unfold for three years, the data base undergoing continuous enrichment. Thus, the manuscripts shall be, for the first time, accessible to the public by means of an application type virtual library.

The Romanian poetry started from Eminescu in the main, even when it distanced from him (in the case of the Symbolism, of Blaga, the more complex case of the unclassifiable Arghezi). Eminescu has become a model and, in time, a myth of our spirituality.”
